M. Suzanne Kondra-DeFuria is president of Potter Heating & Air Conditioning, a commercial and residential business founded in 1944. The firm provides heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system and services as well as metal fabrication. In addition, for over twenty years, she has served as vice president of Perrone Plumbing. In 1986, she completed a mentorship program in the Syracuse Builder’s Exchange, an affiliation she still highly values.
Of note, Ms. Kondra-DeFuria is one of only two women in Central NY with a heating license certification. Additionally, she was the first woman elected president of the Syracuse Heating and Air Conditioning Contractors Association. Under Ms. Kondra-DeFuria’s leadership, Potter-Perrone is a certified woman-owned and operated business.
Ms. Kondra-DeFuria’s community involvement includes serving on the board of directors for St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary; the Northeast Community Center; AIDS Community Resource; Syracuse Heating & Air Conditioning Association; Subcontractor Association of Central New York; Advisory Board of WISE (Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship); the Syracuse Tomorrow Business Advisory Council; Syracuse Chamber Political Advisory Committee as secretary; and Syracuse University Pilot Program for Mentorship. Memberships and committees include the Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Group; the government relations committee; Northeast Hall of Fame; WBOC – Women Business Owners Connections; WPO – Women President Organization; and the Syracuse Federation of Women’s Clubs.
She attributes living by the Golden Rule to be the cornerstone of her successful life. She is a cancer survivor of over 4 years and is an advocate for work-life balance. Her hobbies include volunteering, skiing, traveling and riding her Harley.
